Welcome to the website of the Pro Music Association of Murcia
In many respects the history of the Pro Music Association of Murcia, now in its fourth decade, displays a number of characteristics which gives it a special uniqueness. This ‘uniqueness’ might be referring to a programming approach which has opted for the full range of musical genres, running from full symphony concerts through opera and ballet performances, to the occasional music band, jazz session or traditional folklore group.
We could also be talking about the constant focus on the needs of young people, both as musicians or as audience members whom we must never neglect, or the initiatives aimed at enhancing the visibility and acceptance of music as an art form in itself, an ideal expressed in the creation of Pro Musicians annual awards.
It is also of significance that from the very beginning the venture enjoyed wide support among the public, from various financial institutions in the banking sector and the close collaboration of public authorities. Also the inauguration of the Auditorium and Congress Centre, in 1995, has since opened a new chapter in Pro Music’s development, establishing a model of collaboration with the regional administration which has been highly positive for the Association. Our thanks to all those who believed and still believe in us.
This website intends to be a faithful reflection of that endeavour, born of an unquenchable spirit to serve the common good and to make it possible for the general public and scholars of music alike to be involved in this exciting adventure, starting with this short account of events to date, which can be read in a few minutes.
